About AREA702RESOURCES

Our Mission

At Area 702 Resources,  our mission is to connect individuals and families in Southern Nevada, with essential community services. We believe that everyone  deserves access to food, housing, healthcare, transportation, and  support systems that promote well-being and stability.


What We Do

As  a trusted local resource hub, we provide up-to-date information and  direct links to organizations that offer assistance in critical areas  such as:

  • Food Assistance – Helping individuals and families find food pantries, meal programs, and SNAP benefits.
  • Housing Support – Connecting people with emergency shelters, rental assistance, and affordable housing options.
  • Medical & Mental Health Services – Guiding residents to low-cost clinics, prescription aid, and mental health counseling.
  • Transportation Assistance –  Offering resources for discounted public transit, medical  transportation, and ride services for seniors and individuals with  disabilities.
  • Rent & Utility Assistance – Providing information on energy and water bill relief programs.
  • Counseling & Crisis Support – Ensuring access to crisis hotlines, addiction recovery services, and mental health support.
  • Senior Services - Dedicated to supporting older adults in our community by providing  essential services, guidance, and connections to programs that enhance  their quality of life.

Our  goal is to make it easier for Southern Nevada residents to navigate the  resources available to them, ensuring they receive the support they need  when they need it most. Whether you're facing financial hardship, a  housing crisis, or need help with everyday necessities, Area 702 Resources is here to point you in the right direction.

TRANSPORTATION RESOURCES 

Reliable transportation is key to accessing work, healthcare, and essential services. If you need help getting around, there are programs that provide discounted or free transportation options. 

Find free or discounted transportation programs.


Transportation Assistance/Resources: 

 

  • Public Transit Assistance - The RTC launched its public transit system in 1992 and currently provides service on 39 routes with more than 400 vehicles. Discounted bus passes and disability transport also available.


  • Non-Emergency Medical Transportation - Rides for medical appointments.


  • Senior & Disability Ride Services - Specialized transportation.

Housing Assistance

 Safe and stable housing  is essential for everyone. Whether you’re facing eviction, need  emergency shelter, or are looking for affordable housing options, there  are organizations that can help.

Housing  Resources:

  • Emergency Shelters – Find temporary housing and support services.
  • VA Assistance for Homeless Veterans
    Veterans who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness are strongly encouraged to contact the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans at (877) 4AID-VET (877-424-3838) for assistance. 
  • Rental Assistance Programs – Help with overdue rent and security deposits.
  • Affordable Housing Resources – Apply for government and nonprofit housing programs.

Medical Assistance

 Access to healthcare is crucial, regardless of your financial situation. Clinics and programs are available to provide medical, dental, and mental health services at low or no cost.

Medical Resources:

  • Free & Low-Cost Clinics – Healthcare services for uninsured and low-income individuals.
  • Mental Health Support – Counseling and crisis intervention services.
  • VA Veterans Crisis Line
    Dial 988 and press 1, Text message to 838255 for 24-hour, 7 day per week confidential support 
  • Prescription Assistance – Programs that help cover the cost of medications.

Food Assistance

If you or your family need  food support, there are local programs that can help. Food pantries,  soup kitchens, and government programs provide free or low-cost meals to  those in need. Find locations near you that offer food boxes, hot  meals, and nutrition assistance programs like SNAP.

Food Resources:

  • Local Food Banks – Find food distribution centers near you.


  • SNAP (Food Stamps) – Apply for monthly food assistance.


  • Meal Programs – Free or low-cost meals for individuals and families.

Utility/Rent Assistance

If you’re struggling to  keep up with utility bills, assistance programs can help prevent service  disconnection and provide financial relief for electricity, water, and  heating costs.

  • Energy Assistance Programs – Help with electric and heating bills.
  • Water Bill Assistance – Programs for reducing water costs.
  • Weatherization Assistance – Improve energy efficiency and reduce utility costs.
  • Rent Assistance If you're facing difficulty paying rent in Las Vegas, you can explore resources for rental and utility assistance, or dial 211 for help finding local resources. 
  • Mortgage Assistance -  To provide temporary financial assistance to eligible Nevada  homeowners who wish to remain in their homes but have suffered a loss of  income due to unemployment.

The Employment Hub is dedicated to helping job seekers connect with opportunities, build skills, and achieve career success. Whether you’re searching for a new job, exploring career changes, or looking for training programs, we provide the support and guidance needed to navigate the job market.

Services Available:

  • Job Search Assistance – Access to job listings, career fairs, and employer connections.
  • Resume & Interview Coaching – Personalized help with resume writing, cover letters, and interview preparation.
  • Career Counseling – One-on-one guidance to explore career paths, set goals, and develop a job search strategy.
  • Skills & Workforce Training – Free or low-cost training programs, certifications, and workshops to enhance employ-ability.
  • Workforce Development Programs – Support for individuals facing barriers to employment, including veterans, seniors, and those re-entering the workforce.
  • Unemployment & Financial Assistance – Resources for navigating unemployment benefits, financial aid, and emergency assistance.

 The Senior Services section is  dedicated to supporting older adults in our community by providing  essential services, guidance, and connections to programs that enhance  their quality of life. Our goal is to ensure seniors have access to the  care, assistance, and social opportunities they need to thrive.

  • Healthcare & Wellness 

CARE ACT

A law that is designed to help caregivers stay informed when a family member or friend is in the hospital  The law requires hospitals to: Provide you the opportunity to designate a family caregiver; 

Inform your caregiver when you are to be discharged to another facility or back home; Individuals should be aware of their rights under the          CARE Act:  Carry the name and contact info for your caregiver with you.

  • Financial & Legal Aid – Help with social security benefits, pension guidance, and legal assistance for wills and estates.
  • Housing & Home Care – Resources for affordable senior housing, assisted living options, and in-home care services.
  • Transportation Assistance – Rides for medical appointments, grocery shopping, and social activities.
  • Social & Recreational Activities – Senior centers, group outings, fitness programs, and hobby clubs to promote an active lifestyle.
  • Counseling & Support Services – Mental health support, caregiver resources, and crisis assistance for aging adults.

Veterans Employment HUB

Our Veterans employment service providers support Veterans and families on the path toward economic well-being and self-sufficiency. Experienced employment counselors and job developers provide a comprehensive menu of employment services such as vocational counseling and skills assessments, resume  preparation, job readiness training, occupational skills training/courses through affiliated and referral organizations, employment networking activities, focus groups, job search, advocacy and placement assistance, promotion of military acquired skills for civilian career advancement, and more.
